Wine Guide

my blood type is wine by eileenaart

"We may associate wine with fine dining but wine can accompany many meals and occasions."

Usually couples look forward to celebrate a romantic special occasion with the never ending classic way, dinner and bottle of wine, even if they are not regular wine drinkers.

There are a wide range of wine varieties and prices up to thousands dollars, the older the wine more expensive it is because it improves with age acquiring through the years different characteristic in its flavor .

At home we love the taste of dry fruity wines. They blend really well with the food we love to eat. Riesling sweet red is one is my recent favored wines.  A neighbor gave it to us on Christmas and we enjoyed drinking it to celebrate new year’s eve.  The taste was soft and sweet, worthy of drinking again, it became my new favorite. In the search thorough the web for this wine characteristics found out that Riesling is a wine with its origins on the Germany's Rhein and Mosel river valleys. This type of wine has a variation of light to full-bodied. Also resembles the flavor of apple, peach, pear and has lower alcohol levels than other wines. Although it has ripeness classifications to pair it with food; in general goes well with appetizers, desserts, pork, poultry, shellfish and spicy foods.

“When you are drinking wine with your partner or lover you should choose wines that have fruity or juicy flavor, to set the mood of “sweet love”

Another wine that is favored in our home is  Sauvignon Blanc because it is crisp, refreshing and vegetarian friendly wine and we eat lots of vegetarian dishes, dips, Italian dishes and salads; although most of the member of my family are not vegetarian like me. Sauvignon Blanc originated in the Loire Valley of France and it is also grown in New Zealand. This dry white wine has light to medium-body and distinctive herbaceous qualities. This wine is perfect for those who enjoy drinking tea and cooking with herbs, it's worth trying. Maybe you can experiment cooking with it or spritzing salads with it , if you do so tell us  how it goes!

“The wines included in this guide are affordable for any budget, ranging in prices from $10 to $25.

We were introduced to Merlot Noir (Crabutet Noir) wine years ago at a friend gathering, that is the favorite wine of her husband. A meat lovers wine, is mostly consumed when eating dinners that include poultry, red meat and pork.  The merlot grape has it s origins in the Bordeaux region of France.but its cultivated in other places as well. It is a soft, medium-bodied red wine with flavors that include plums, cherries, blueberries and blackberries.

Pinot Noir is grown around the world mostly in the cooler regions of the world but directly associated with the Burgundy region of France. It has a light to medium body with an aroma resembling black cherry, raspberry, or plum.  A great match for a wide variety of dishes, particularly lightly seasoned fish, poultry or pork.

The last but not least wine of our  easy wine guide is Chenin Blanc, a wine that is originated from France’s Loire Valley, also grown in South Africa and California. This white wine ranges from dry to very sweet. Its flavors include variations of apple, melon, lime and pear with hints of vanilla and honey.  It is a perfect choice when eating salads, mild to spicy rice dishes, sushi, seafood and white meats. Personally  we have never tasted this one but it is on our list for next time.
